Released to celebrate Rocky’s first ten years in the business, Patel took the opportunity to create a secret blend of filler and binder tobacco and layered them beneath a rare Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper. And so, the Decade was born. Shiny, oily, and very finely veined, the dark Sumatra wrapper shows a bit of tooth and smells of soft cedar. Full of lively pepper yet creamy and smooth, the smoke hits just the right symmetry of flavor. From the sweet spot to the nub, strong hints of dark cherry are intertwined with exotic spices and leather and almonds, a complex and soul-pleasing experience.

1 x Rocky Patel Sun Grown Toro (6 ½” x 52, ●●●●○ Medium-Full). Made in sunny Honduras, this fantastic smoke contains a complex multi-country blend of filler tobaccos from Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and Brazil. This mixture, aged for more than 7 years, is bound with a stout Nicaraguan leaf, and topped off with a rich Ecuadoran sun-grown wrapper. The wrapper itself has 5 years of aging on it, making this very complex and memorable cigar a must-have in any serious humidor. This cigar starts off with a rich, earthy base note, that later transforms throughout the experience into a medley of woody and tobacco flavors. There are notes of savory spice and white pepper and a subtle, sweet finish.

Rolled in Honduras at Patel’s Danli-based Paraiso factory, this box-pressed beauty has already garnered multiple 90 ratings, mainly due to the updated Honduran Corojo wrapper expertly selected to highlight the hearty Nicaraguan filler and binder within. Increasingly complex as it burns, this cigar adds dark earth, oak, and hints of bright citrus well before the midpoint, while the flavors of creamy caramel and salted almonds await until the cherry is a little closer to the newly redesigned double gold and black bands.

Made in Honduras, this cigar is blended with Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers, a spicy Nicaraguan binder, and a dark, oily Honduran Broadleaf wrapper. Though somewhat unconventional, this blend is what has earned Vintage 1990 some serious accolades over the years. Firmly constructed, nearly seamless on the roll, and adorned with a fancy maroon and gold band. Definitive notes of cocoa and black pepper are boldly stated, along with plenty of raw tobacco and a subtle grassy undertone. A bold, mocha finish ties the whole package together, making it easy to see how this cigar has become such a huge success over the years.
